August

My late father would have been amused to see this tiny former logging and fishing village that has reinvented itself as a busy tourist spot. He would have remembered it “back then”. A little over an hour’s drive from the city of Moncton, Alma is in Albert County and is close to Fundy National Park. On the way you pass through several small communities, two of which are my favourites; Hillsborough and Crooked Creek.

In Alma there are several good restaurants, a fabulous bakery and of course, the Fundy Take-Out. We went to the latter for what I think is the best fish burger I have ever had.

Afterwards, we drove out to the Wolf Pointe Bridge. New Brunswick has the largest number of covered bridges in Canada.

The days are slowly but surely shortening as we go into August. Reluctantly, we chased the sunset back to the city.
