The Ordinary UV Filter SPF 45 Serum
If you would like a change from your usual sunscreen, consider The Ordinary UV Filters SPF 45 serum. New this year, it’s a slightly mattifying serum (on my skin) a bit runny but easy to apply. Sans the shine and sometimes greasy feel of a conventional sunscreen. Fragrance free and no white cast too. Use a generous pump or three on face, neck, upper chest and the back of the hands.
I’ve been using this for about three months now and love it. Five stars from me.
And the history of the brand is interesting. Launched in 2016, The Ordinary was one of several brands from Canadian company DECIEM. The company was founded as a kind of push back against claims that the beauty industry was bloated with overpriced products and vague claims about formulas and efficacy. The company philosophy is transparency, affordability and science-based skin care.
DECIEM is now owned by the Estee Lauder group, fortunately, to the best of my knowledge, they haven’t altered the products and the pricing remains reasonable. Here in Canada, I bought my second bottle of it at Sephora.
